EMAS Archaeological Projects

Archaeological Societies can do a great deal to help archaeological research. But any projects undertaken must be properly prepared.

With any kind of fieldwork there is a temptation for the beginner to start work without proper preparation.

However, if really useful results are to be gained, any serious work, either on a set area or on a specific site, must conform to a proper plan of work as shown below.

Please note that it is the policy of the EMAS Archaeological Society that all fieldwork carried out by its members must conform to the CBA Standards and Guidance in Archaeological Practice.
