Welcome to the EMAS Website

Introducing EMAS

Making archaeology accessible for over 30 years

We started out more than three decades ago as the University of London Extra-Mural Archaeological Society, catering for past and present students of the University.

Now, as EMAS Archaeological Society – or just plain EMAS – we welcome anyone with an interest in archaeology. Beginners, students, amateurs and professionals alike!

We’re proud of our broad-based and diverse membership, drawn from many walks of life, and are particularly keen to help younger people (18+) develop their understanding of archaeology or explore new areas of interest.

We are an institutional member of the Council for British Archaeology, the voice of archaeology in the UK, which brings together community groups, commercial units, academics and heritage organisations to create and share opportunities to discover, take part in and be inspired by archaeology.
